1. Sustainable Economic Models in Non-Governmental Schooling: A Systematic Review of Factors, Strategies, Challenges, and Outcomes

چکیده :

This study conducts a systematic review in the economics of education with the aim of identifying the components and characteristics of a sustainable economic model for non-governmental (private) schooling in Iran. It first maps and categorizes the factors, challenges, outcomes, and strategies associated with the economics of non-governmental schools and, second, examines the underlying conditions and requirements needed to design a localized sustainable economic model. National (SID, ISC, NoorMags, IranDoc) and international (Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC) databases were searched for studies published between 2000 and 2023 using Persian and English keywords related to educational economics, sustainable development, school funding, and private schools. Eligible studies were screened and synthesized thematically into causal, contextual, intervening, strategic, and outcome-related themes. The results highlight pressures on public budgets, contextual policy and cultural conditions, and intervening governance and technological factors, and identify key strategies such as diversification of financial resources, educational entrepreneurship, performance management, stakeholder participation, and alignment with sustainable development. The review concludes that a sustainable economic model for non-governmental schools in Iran should be built on value-based foundations, diversified and transparent funding, performance-oriented governance, and systematic risk management.
